Schooley's Mountain Park is part of the Morris County park system. Located in Long Valley, New Jersey, Schooley's Mountain offers miles of trails. Its amazing that in the most crowded state of the nation, little retreats like this exist.
On a beautiful summer day, we covered just about all the trails, amounting to approximately 5 miles. The trails consisted of well traveled dirt, crushed stones, rocks, bigger rocks, and roots. At points, the ground was so rocky that it was difficult to locate the trail, especially the red trail. The hike included a variety of sights, from amazing meadows, fern covered hardwood forests, Lake George, and even a suprising long view overlook. The kicker included a waterfall... and yes, it was a pretty waterfall indeed.
The trail was well marked (mostly) but with the rocks and some steep uphill climbs, it was a also a good workout. Bring good shoes and some water. For more information , click HERE.
