Lake Audrey is a 120+ acre lake located in Commercial Township between Millville and Mauricetown in Cumberland County (near the Mauricetown Bridge over the Maurice River). It was acquired by the New Jersey Division of Fish & Wildlife in 2004.  Lake Audrey was created at the site of a  former sand pit that once fed Cumberland County‚Äôs glass industry. Over the years, volunteers from the South Jersey Bass Club Association and others have worked to make the lake habitiable for fish, including dumping 136 tons of lime into the water to neutralize the acidity of the water and placing Christmas trees and jumbles of wood in strategic underwater areas to make marine habitats. Along the way, thousands of fish have been intorduced from fisheries from northern New Jersey. The crystal clear lake has a relaxing 3 kilometer hiking trail around the parameter, making for an easy and enjoyable December hike.
