Canon EOS 70D

Used from 2013 to 2020

In 2013, I picked a 70D to use a second body for my paying gigs. Aside for having this as a back-up and second body, I didn't use it a lot. But it hung around in my bag for a long time nonetheless. I finally sold it in 2021 (I hadn't used it in over a year). By that time, I didn't have any EF lenses left and it didn't make sense keeping it any longer.

CAMERA REVIEW:  The 70D was a decent camera. I could tell the difference of the image quality versus my 5D models. It struggled in low light but good lenses, it was a fun camera to use. I liked that it used the same batteries of my other Canon 5D models. It also had a flippy screen, which at the time was really cool. The crop factor was both a plus and minus. I liked the extra reach I could get with my EF lenses.  However, you lose the wide end. Boo. I never bought into the EF-S eco-system, so more often than not, I used an EF lenses and lived with the crop factor. I liked this camera - it was tough and weather resistant and made for a great beater to take to the city. I have no idea how many images were keepers because of many were for paying gigs, but if I had to guess probably close to 6,000.

CAMERA SPECIFICATIONS:  Its easier to include a link for the specifications than to list them all out here. Click HERE . In the photos below, I included the first and last photos I took with this camera. With interchangeable lens cameras, both the camera and lens matters. For each picture, you can click on the details to see what lenses were used.
