Another eBay special, the Minolta MC Rokkor 55mm f/1.7 is an interesting lens. In 2018 I bought it along with an adapter so it would mount on my Canon EOS M50. It is a manual lens, but the zebra stripping on the M50 helps to nail focus. The lens imparts a beautiful warm image, which could pass for photos taken on film. The 55mm acts as a portrait lens, coming in as a 88mm on a full-frame body. The lens stays relatively sharp all through the range, even wide-open at 1.7. It is a low light beast, although f/1.7 is tricky to nail manual focus. Glad to have this in my bag – I look forward to using this over the years.
